Established 2008 in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Japan Boat Takoyaki is a well-loved takoyaki franchise with outlets across Malaysia and Brunei, with majority of outlets being in East Malaysia.
A series of traditional and contemporary elements were used to portray Japan Boat Takoyaki’s enduring motto: Motion, Culture and Food.
The logo design was the first step. The red circle surrounded by brushstrokes showcases its roots in Japanese culture. The calligraphic typography reflects not only its tradition but also the motion of the hands and tools together when making takoyaki. This all culminates to form a cohesive brand identity for Japan Boat Takoyaki.
To emphasise Japan Boat Takoyaki’s passion for takoyaki, individually hand-drawn characters further illustrates the artisanal personality of takoyaki making.
